Guernsey Presentation Night

On Wednesday evening the guernsey presentation took place.  I took a few photos to put faces to the names I might have mentioned or you’ve read about elsewhere.

Larry Kavanagh

Larry is the tallest man in the Warriors squad at 2.01m.  He’s a Dub but works as a hotel manager in Darwin.  He told me he didn’t own a jacket before this trip, the tropical weather of Darwin doesn’t require one.

Ferghal Purcell

Ferghal is another Dub and a vice captain of the team.  He’s a UTS Bats first teamer and was formerly on the Dublin football squad.  He’s a strong athletic type.   He’s been working hard organising things for us in Sydney and has been a great help to the team.

Cian Quigley

Cian or Quigs for short is the captain of the team and a veteran of two previous tournaments.  He is from the lovely seaside town of Kinsale in Cork.  He’s a teacher and and fluent Irish speaker.

John Heslin

John is from the St Loman’s GAA club in Mullingar Co Westmeath and has just moved permanently to Melbournce as he has been signed by Richmond Tigers AFL club.  He’s a big guy for a 19 year old and has lots of potential, he is expected to develop through the tournament as he gets game experience.

Joe Cunnane

Joe Cunnane is one of only three players in the 2011 squad that have a winners medal from the 2002 International Cup.  He is from Tulsk in Co Roscommon and is now living in Dublin working as an accountant.  Known  widely as ‘Big Joe’, he’s a gentle giant.  Joe doesn’t fear media attention having previously appeared in reality TV shows the Underdogs and The Craic Down Under.
